French's Monumentmonument and round towerThis monument is circular, about 14 links in diameter having a wall round it about 12 foot high and in the centre of it is built a round tower about 60 links in diameter and 60 feet high. It is called French’s Monument from the circumstance of Fredrick French (the father of the present landlord) being interred in it. It is of modern structure about 38 years built and its general appearance this - [a drawing which is available on the original microfilm at Library Headquarters].

Kilconnel AbbeyabbeyThe magnificent Abbey is built on a beautifully elevated green field and is an oblong form, having on its North side a tower attached to it, which has winding stone stairs from the bottom to the top. The walls are nearly all standing and are beautifully ornamented inside by sculptured work, also three alters and several vaults are to be seen inside, it is said by antiquarians to be a very old building erected by a family of the name of Daly and is also said that both the town and Barony of Kilconnel derived their names from this building.

Town of KilconneltownThis town is situated on a level? and contains a R. Catholic Chapel, 1 Post Office and Police Barrack and 6 Public Houses. There are four old Fairs, viz. 9th May, 4th August, 10th November, 28th Dec. and two lately established on the 6th March and 27th June held in this town. No market. The houses are thatched and in bad repair at the cross roads on the West end of this town is a standing stone which formerly had a cross on its top but which is now broken off.
