Description:
This townland is the property of J. Daly, Esqr. held under a deed for ever. It contains 416a. 3r. 36p. The whole of which are in a good state of cultivation except 3 pieces of good bog which [unable to read] in about 30 acres a part of the town of Kilconnel stands in its North East end, the roads in are in good repair inhabitants are middling comfortable. For the last half year 4th Oct. 1837 the amount of County Cess is £9. 6s. 2d.
Situation:
Lies in the South of the parish, bounded by Ballyglas, Abbey Field, Glebe of Ballanderry, Gurtadeegan, Ballantubber and Ballanderry townlands in this parish, by Killaghbeg, Killaghmore and Ballantubber in the parish of Killallaghtan and Barony of Kilconnel.

Translation according to P. W. Joyce:
Corraneena in Galway; Cor-an-fhiona, round hill of the wine. The f of fion, wine, falls out by aspiration : p. 2, IV [reproduced below]. Name, an echo of the old time of smuggling.
IV. F aspirated loses its sound altogether and drops out. Barranarran, in Mayo, represents the Irish Barr-an-fhearainn, the top or highest part (barr) of the fearann or land, where f vanishes.
