Description:
Proprietor Lord Oranmore, Castlemontgarret, Co. Mayo. Agent Laurence Glynn of do place. All in proprietor’s possession. Soil pretty good. Mostly in tillage. Crops sold yearly. Producing middling crops of wheat, oats, flax and potatoes. The house of Ashford stands on the Eastern extremity of the townland having the clear stream of Cong River running in front and emptying itself into Lough Corrib at the rear. Co Cess 11¼d.paid per acre half yearly for each of 128 acres. Antiquity a fort with a cave called Lisschlannurrish. Agent Gerrard Strickland, Esq., Lough Glynn.
Situation:
In the East side of the Parish. Bounded on the North by the townlands of Creg and Clogher: on the West by Clogher and Deerpark; on the South by Lough Corrib; on the East by Parish of Cong, Co. Mayo. In the Barony of Ross and County of Galway.
