Description:
The chief part of this parish belongs to the Earl of Clancarty, James McDermott, Joseph Michl. McDonell, and William Kelly, Esq., held by deed for ever. There is a large tract of bog in the S. East side of this parish. The arable part is considered to be in a good state of cultivation. The inhabitants live middling comfortable and the houses and roads in good repair.
Situation:
Is situated in the eastern side of the County Galway in the Baronies of Cloonmacnoon and Longford, bounded by Clonfert and Kiltormer parishes in the barony of Longford, by Killallaghtan and Kilcloony parishes in the barony of Cloonmacnoon, by Aughrim parish in the baronies of Cloonmacnoon and Kilconnel, and on the N. East by the river Suck which separates it from the parishes of Creagh and Moore in the barony of Moycarne and County Roscommon.
