Description:
There is a tradition that an old woman lived in this island by plunder, and the only method she had for protecting herself was by a large knife - hence the name Noalla na Medoaga (Nelly the Knife).
Situation:
Illan Noalla na Midoaga is a small portion of land called Illan or Island on the E. side of Curralough Lough near the West boundary of the townland of Curralough it has bog and marsh on the West side of it which renders access to it difficult.
