Description:
It is in the Diocese of Clonfert. Province of Connaught and is one of a [Unable to read.] with three others, called the [Unable to read.] of Loughrea. It is compact and nearly all cultivated. It contains a considerable town bearing its own name situated on the northern margin of the lake which gives the name to the parish. There are 6 or 7 small pools, and a few Danish Forts, in the parish.
Situation:
Lies in the Northern part of the Barony of Loughrea, and is bounded on the N. W. and North by the parish of Kilconickny with Barony of Loughrea, on the B. by that of Kilrickle in the Barony of Athenry, on the S. E. by that of Kilmeen in the Barony of Leitrim, and on the S. and S. W. by that of Killeenadeema in the Barony of Loughrea.
