Description:
About 1/3 is bog or mountain, rock and heath, in which there are 3 large woods and northward 3 other woods with a good many lesser ones. It is thinly inhabited having only 3 small villages together with a few scattered cottages, 4 or 5 small ponds, R. C. Chapel in which there does be held a school, 30 males and 20 females.
Situation:
Forms part of the baronies of Loughreagh and Leitrim, and is bounded on the N. and W. by the parishes of Kilmeen, Loughrea and Killeenadeema, in the Barony of Loughrea, and in the S. &s; E. by these of Ballinakill and Leitrim in the Barony of Leitrim.
