Description:
It contains 4,975a. 2r. 35p. about 1/3 of which is bog, the remainder arable and pasture. The houses and roads are generally in good repair. It is rather a handsome parish. There being there very handsome demesnes in it, those of Castlekelly, Rookwood and Thornfield.
Situation:
Is situated in an Eastern part of the County Galway. Is bounded on the East by the river Suck which divides it from the parishes of Athleague and Tirrara, the Barony Athlone and Co. Roscommon. On the South and West by Killeroran parish, and on the North by the parishes Kilbegnet and Fuerty in the Barony of Ballymoe and County of Galway.
