Proprietor Lord Gort, Loughcooter Castle, Post Town Gort. Agent Mr. James Slator, Gort. Let to 22 occupying tenants at will. Yearly rent 30s per acre, quit rent 2s per acre. County cess 3s per acre. Tithe witheld by the tenantry. Size of farms from 2 to 20 acres. Soil rocky and sandy. Usual crops, wheat, oats and potatoes - no bog. Tenantry all Roman Catholics. Prevailing name Hanlon. Gort River to the North of this townland. Trout, perch and eel in this river. Lavally graveyard in this townland - 2 forts and one cave. Lough Donal O'Brien in this townland - no fish. Situation:
In the Southern extremity of the parish of Kiltartan, Barony of Kiltartan and County Galway. East and West of a road leading from Gort to Loughrea, adjacent to the town of Gort on the South East, south of Gort River.
