Description:
This Parish contains several portions of bog which comprise about 1/15 of the entire Parish, the rest is arable. The road leading from Loughrea to Kiltormer crosses the Northern part of it. It has one demesne with a gentleman’s seat called Brooklawn house. The whole parish is intersected by several lanes and bye roads and contains the following antiquities viz. two holy wells and a cross situate in the N.W. extremity of the Parish and a stone cross situate in the townland of Corballymore and a holy well in the t.land of Drimtubber, the ancient ruins of an Abbey in the townland of Abbeygormican, three demesnes, several Danish forts, two A.C. chapels and ruins of another and a police station.

E. by the Parish of Killimer Bolobue, Killquain or Quansborough and Kiltormer in the Barony of Longford. W. by the parishes of Kilreakil and Killoran in the Barony of Athenry and Kilcooly, by. of Leitrim.
