Description:
Townland. The property of the family of Burke. There is an old church and an old castle, C. chapel situated near the South side of the townland. The above named Proprietor’s Progenitors built 25 castles in this County. The Castles of Lackaghmore, Derrymacloughnan and Carnoneen are among the numbers they have possessed of this property these 200 years:- Derrymacloughlan has a ruin of castle in good order – a ruin of a mansion house and Chapel.
Situation:
In the Barony of Clare and within a mile of the Northern extremity of the Parish of Lackagh: - Bounded on the N. by Barnaboy, E. by Parkgorriv, Ph. of Lackagh, S. by Gurraun and Meanard, Ph. of Lackagh and W. by Ballyglass townland.
