Description:
This parish is in the Diocese of Kilmacduagh. A great portion of the parish is mountain and bog. It contains a part of two large Demesnes which take up a great deal of it viz. Roxboro and Castleboy, which are well wooded, also about 10 Danish Forts, the ruins of two old Castles, 1 old church and graveyard, 3 caves, 1 Protest. Church and G. Yard and two Gentleman’s Seats, also 3 or 4 Trigl. Stations.
Situation:
Lies in part of three baronies viz. Loughrea, Kiltartan and Dunkellin. It is bounded by the parish of Killeenadeema, Kilchreest, Isserkelly, and Killagilleen in the E. and N. and on the W. by the parishes of Ardrahan and Isserkelly.
