Description:
This Lough is about 15 chains long about 6 broad and is supposed to be nearly 18 feet deep at high water, as it communicates with the sea, its water is salt from which it got its name. It has a sandy bottom. Its fish are eels and some large trout. It receives a small river at its E. end discharges it at its N. in a river thro’ the strand called Charra Owine.
Situation:
In the W. part of the parish. It is bounded S. by Aughrusmore, W. by Aughrusbeg, E by Emlogh and N. by the Atlantic Ocean.
