Description:
This grotto is about 25 feet long 12 feet wide and 8 feet high with several corners, apartments covered overhead. Thro’ it runs a small brook descending by a cascade of about 10 feet. It is placed in a valley in [unable to read] with a grove of ash, oak, fir and sycamore trees, etc. Romantic appearance denotes it to be of very ancient date, the part of it being constructed about the year 1810.
Situation:
Situated near centre of Clifden Demesne and about 6 chains N.E. of Clifden Castle.
