Description:
This parish contains 8213 statute acres, is of an irregular form. The greatest length N.to S. is 5½ miles and breadth from E. to W. 4½ miles. This parish is very rocky level and the greatest part is flow bog in the N. of the parish. There is a small village called Gurteen, it is on the road from Loughrea to Castleblakeny.
Situation:
Situated in the Barony of Tiaquin and County of Galway, 8 miles N. of Loughrea and 3 miles E of Monavea.
