Description:

Proprietor James Lambert, Esq., Cregaclare, Ardrahan. No agent. Let to 20 occupying tenants at will by farms or divisions from 10 to £40 yearly rent. County Cess 2s. 11½d. per acre. Tithes withheld by the tenantry. Soil part rocky and gravely and part heavy clay. Usual crops wheat, barley, oats and potatoes. No bog. Prevailing names Creaghan and Kelly. Part of Ardrahan village in the Southern extremity of this townland. Authority Mr. Lynskey, Bailiff to Mr. Gregory. Ruins of an old Castle here from which some of the ancient Earls of Clanricarde dated their official and other correspondence, (vide Clarke’s life of Ormond). Ruins of an old church and a grave yard, a remarkable Spring Well in this grave yard descending by a declevity under where the corps are interred. Ruins of a Round Tower in grave yard. Authority The Rev. G. Dwyer.

Situation:

In the centre of the parish of Ardrahan, Barony of Dunkellin and County of Galway. East of a road passing through the village of Ardrahan to Galway and North of another road leading from Ardrahan to Loughrea.
