Description:
This parish is partially cultivated being greatly composed of bog and mountain. It is bounded on the South and E. by Lough Derg, in which there are several islands belonging to the parish the largest is Illaanmore. There is a quay in the Eastern boundary for a steamer and boats called Newtown [unable to read].
Situation:
Situated in the South end of the Barony of Leitrim and County of Galway, on the West side of Lough Derg on the River Shannon.
