AbbeytownlandIt is the property of Mr. Forster of Abbey. Contains about 875 acres, a great portion deep flow bog and about 130 acres subject to winter flood. The remainder is under tillage and pasture. A small lake stands convenient to its N.E. boundary. The ruins of an abbey are near its S. boundary also the ruins of a R.C. Chapel about 4 miles N.N.W. of it. Two bye roads pass through it.

AbbeyknockmoyparishHas a ruin of Abbey in it. The families of Blakes, Hy [unable to read] ns and O’Hallorans who laid the first foundation of it.
BallybauntownlandIt is the property of Mr. Forster of Abbey. Contains about 260 acres. It is all barren, rocky moor except about 180 a. which is under tillage and pasture. There are 3 cahiols and a fort in this townland also a hole called “Poulalinglony”.
BallynakillatownlandTownland. It is the property of Mr Forster, contains about 330 acres of which about 200 are rocky pasture, the remainder is under tillage and pasture. There are 4 cahiols or Stone Forts in it. The largest is on its eastern boundary called “Cahiol-a-Timony”.
BallynamonatownlandTownland. It is the property of Mr. Forster of Abbey, contains about 215 acres, there are 70 acres of barren moor. There are two antique forts in this townland, one on the boundary of Abbey and Abbeyknockmoy Parishes, the other is situated near the southern boundary of the townland called "Caher Shaunmaguire”.
BrierfieldtownlandTownland. It is the property of the family of Burkes. Contains about 360 acres chiefly under pasture.
Brierfield NorthtownlandTownland. It is the property of Martin J. Blake, Esq., Ballygloonan. Contains about 38 acres under tillage and pasture. There is about 14 acres of bog. The Tuam and Ballinasloe road bounds it South.
Brierfield SouthtownlandTownland. It is the property of the family of Blakes. Contains about 549 acres. The greater part of which is under tillage and pasture, the remainder is bog. There is a National School close to the Tuam and Ballinasloe road, which passes along its N. boundary. There is a Spa Well in it.
Brierfield StevenstownlandTownland. It is the property of Mr. Toole, contains about 136 acres, all under tillage and pasture except about 14 acres of rough pasture. The Tuam and Ballinasloe road bounds it North.
Brierfield TooletownlandTownland. It is the property of Mr. Toole, contains about 205 acres, all under tillage and pasture except 20 acres of bog. The Tuam and Ballinasloe road passes near its Northern boundary as also two other bye roads, one along its East boundary.
CaherpookatownlandTownland. It is the property of Mr. Forster, contains about 255 acres of which 50 acres are moor and rocky pasture, the remainder is under tillage and pasture. There are two remarkable stone circles, in one of which is a cave called “Ann-Val’s Wadeen or Val’s Cave”. The Ballinasloe and Galway road bounds its N.W.
CahershanemaguirefortProprietor Mr. Forster. A large fort a part of which is still to be seen 7 feet high.
Carrowreagh WesttownlandTownland. The property of Jasper Fowler containing 9 acres, a pasture field. It is bounded on the W. by the road from Athenry and Tuam.
ChapelfieldtownlandTownland. It is the property of Mr. Forster. There is a R. C Chapel in it. The Ballinasloe and Galway road bounds it on N. also two bye roads bounds it one on the E. the other in the W. It contains 20a 2r. 30p.
ClashardtownlandIt is the property of Mr. Kelly of New Village. It contains about 200 acres. It is chiefly under tillage and pasture, there being about 70 of boggy pasture and 20 a. of plantation. The Ballinasloe and Galway road passes along its N.W.. There are two other bye roads, one bounds it S.W. the other N.E.
CoolfowersubdenominationHas a ruin of a very large building on it, said to be an abbey. There are some religious of the Roman Catholic faith in it. Their abode is a small house – cottage form? in one end of the ruin.
CooloortatownlandTownland. It is the property of the family of Kirwans, contains about 72 acres of tillage and pasture. There is a well in it called St. Bayven’s Well.
Culliagh NorthtownlandTownland. It is the property of Mr. Forster, contains about 363 acres. It is all under tillage and pasture except about 10 acres subject to the winter flood and about 4 of plantation. The residence of the proprietor is close to the village of Abbey which stands on the road leading to Galway. The ruins of a Corn Mill stand in an island in the river. There are two forts in it.
Culliagh SouthtownlandTownland. It is the property of Mr. Forster, contains about 436 acres, 130 of which are rocky pasture, the remainder is under tillage and pasture. There is an ancient fort near its centre, another stands on its W. boundary called “Cahiol-a-Timony”. The Ballinasloe and Galway road passes along its N. Western boundary.
DerreentownlandTownland. It is the property of Michael Browne of Moyne. Contains about 186 acres, the greater part of this townland is deep bog and boggy pasture. The Ballinasloe and Galway road bounds it on the N.W. It is intersected by three other bye roads.
Drishaghaun or Brierfield (Blake)townlandTownland. It is the property of Martin J. Blake, Esq., Ballygloona. Contains about 130 acres, all under tillage and pasture. There is about 14 acres of bog. There is an ancient fort in it. The Tuam and Ballinasloe road passed near its northern boundary.
FarmhilltownlandTownland. It is the property of Mr. Kelly of Newtown. Contains about 180 acres all under tillage and pasture except about 30 of plantation.
FeightownlandTownland. It is the property of M. Browne, Esq., of Moyne. Contains about 206 acres, all under tillage and pasture except 5 acres of boggy pasture and 3 acres of plantation. A bye road bounds it on the North.
Feigh WesttownlandIt is the property of Mr. Forster. It contains about 370 acres about ½ of which is under tillage and pasture. The remainder is deep bog and boggy pasture. Near its N. Eastern boundary stands an ancient fort, a bye road passes through its centre from E. to West.
FirparktownlandIt is the property of Mr. Forster. It contains about 91 acres chiefly pasture and tillage. Nothing remarkable in this townland.
GlennaveeltownlandTownland. It is the property of Mr. Forster. Contains about 273 acres, 140 of which are under tillage and pasture, the remainder is bog and rocky pasture, close to its East boundary is a Holy Well called “Tubber Bernard”.
GortavauratownlandProperty of -. Contains about 55 acres, all under cultivation. It has an old fort in the S.E. extremity. The Tuam and Athenry roads bound it on the E.
KilgarvetownlandTownland. It is the property of Mr. Kelly of Newtown. It contains about 313 acres, all under tillage and pasture. Nothing remarkable in it.

LaraghbegtownlandTownland. The property of Mr. Blake, containing 413 acres, all under tillage with the exception of about 10 acres of cut out bog. The road from Athenry to Tuam passes through it.
LaraghmoretownlandTownland. The property of the family of Burkes containing 701½ acres of which about 10 acres are rocky, 30 acres barren moor, the remainder under cultivation. The road from Athenry to Tuam passes through its eastern extremity..
Lindsay's FarmtownlandTownland. It is the property of Mr. Forster, contains about 107 acres. It is chiefly under tillage. There is an ancient burial ground for children in it, two bye roads bound it, one on the N.E., the other on the W.
LisstownlandTownland. It is the property of Mr. Kelly of Newtown, contains about 486 acres, all under tillage and pasture, but 60 acres of boggy pasture. Near its centre stands an ancient fort which probably gives name to this townland. A little N.E. of this is an ancient burial ground. A bye road passes through it.
MohertownlandTownland. It is the property of Mr. Browne, of Moyne, contains about 212 acres of which 60 are plantation and 100 bog, the remainder is under tillage. A new line of road has been made near its N.E. boundary and another leading to Moyne House.
Mount BrownetownlandThe property of Mr. Browne, contains about 294 acres. In the centre of the townland there is the ruin of what appears to have been a comfortable country residence. There are a few inconsiderable patches of planting. Chiefly under pasture. There is an old fort in the S.E. extremity. The Tuam and Athenry road bounds it on the E.
MoynetownlandTownland. It is the family seat and property of the family of Brownes. Has a flour mill in it with ancient wheels. Contains about 532 acres 350 of which are under tillage and pasture and 15 bog and brushwood, a lake is situated near its western boundary.
NewtowntownlandTownland. It is the property of Mr. Kelly who lives in it. Has a flour mill in it with undish? wheel. Contains about 384 acres 80 acres of which are bog and boggy pasture, the remainder is under tillage and pasture. The Ballinasloe and Galway roads bounds its N.W., also several bye roads through it.
Oakwood NorthtownlandTownland. James Kelly, Esq. of Newtown is the proprietor, contains about 367 acres 10 acres of which are rocky pasture, the remainder is under tillage and pasture. A bye road passes through it from N. to South.

ParklaurtownlandTownland. It is the property of Martin J. Blake, Esq., Ballygloonan, contains about 102 acres chiefly under tillage and pasture. Nothing remarkable in this townland.
PollawarlatownlandTownland. It is the property of Mr. Forster, contains 267 acres 90 acres of which are subject to the winter flood, 30 acres bog and 30 young plantation, the remainder is under tillage and pasture. The Ballinasloe and Galway road bounds it S.E. also a cross road.
Sun HilltownlandTownland. It is the property of Mr. Michael Browne, Esq., Moyne, contains about 160 acres forming a part of the Proprietor’s Demesne. The Ballinasloe and Galway road bounds it on the S.E. It has about 20 acres of plantation in it.
TawnaghbauntownlandA sub denomination of Cooloorty. A mountainy flat with a drain running through it. Contains about 166 acres chiefly bog. Nothing remarkable in it.
ToberpatrickwellA celebrated Holy Well. This well is properly called St. Bernard’s Well others say that there are two wells here one called after St. Patrick and the other after Bernard.
